The ‘Netnocon 2026 Global Netnography Conference’, organized by Izmir University of Economics (IUE) and the Association for Netnographic Research, in strategic cooperation with the Aegean Young Businesspeople Association (EGIAD), brought together academics from all over the world in Izmir. 

Dr. Alper Gedik, a lecturer in the Department of New Media and Communication at Izmir University of Economics (IUE), has restored a 55-year-old documentary film made about the legendary Italian director Pier Paolo Pasolini, successfully bringing it back to the art world. 

The Cinema and Ethics Symposium, organized by the Department of Cinema and Digital Media and the Department of New Media and Communication at Izmir University of Economics, was held on Friday, May 15, 2026, at the university’s Balçova Campus.

As part of Best of Foça Film Days 2025, the documentaries "Artifakt Savaşı" and "İpek Gibi Gökyüzü, Portakallarla Dolu," featured in the Foça Film Days selection, were screened at the Department of Cinema and Digital Media at Izmir University of Economics.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Sarphan Uzunoğlu, faculty member at Izmir University of Economics (IUE), Department of New Media and Communication, has issued warnings, pointing out that it is becoming increasingly difficult to distinguish whether content spreading on social media is real or not.
